A career in tech? Yes, please! If you’ve ever considered transitioning to tech or maybe it’s never crossed your mind, doesn’t matter. You need to stop what you’re doing and start editing that resume. BUT WHY? Before I get to the obvious reason, allow me to pull at your heartstrings for a moment. Do any of the below apply to you?
You’ve had dreams of working in tech and hanging with the cool kids at lunch. You thought about applying for a tech job but didn’t think you had the experience to actually get a callback.
You ain't got no job, Craig! You may have lost your job during COVID or maybe you quit because you’re tired of the BS. You’ve got nothing to lose at this point, so why not try something new?
You work for a company that is being run by, how do I say this, people, that don’t know what they are doing. And you’ve got a measly 2 weeks of PTO to show for it.
Your salary could use an upgrade. Ever research your position online only to find out you are being paid well below average?
You’re bored. You go to work every day more excited about the new Netflix show you’re going to binge when you get home. You do your job well and it’s not because you’re a great employee, it’s just that EASY.
Have I tugged any strings yet? I know. life’s tough! If you’re still somehow reading this feeling unmotivated, here is a staggering piece of truth for you:
We are in a technological revolution! The future is artificial intelligence, robotics, NFTs, web3, and so much more. No matter how you feel, technology will play a critical part in your future and has already impacted the job market significantly.
Basically what I’m saying is, get in where you fit in! The good news here is that the tech industry doesn’t discriminate against the inexperienced and it just so happens to be one with amazing benefits and roles that allow you to be innovative. These benefits include:
Bomb Salary- Because of increased demand for individuals with technical skills, tech professionals make a very lovely income. Six figures are well within your grasp.
Job Security- While no industry is 100% immune to an economic downturn, the tech industry is set up to withstand pretty much anything.
Unlimited PTO- Yes, yes, yes! This is the norm in tech. Once you go unlimited, you will never go back.
Constant Learning-Technology is ever-changing and there are some pretty cool companies out there. You can never acquire enough knowledge for this niche, which means you might get a chance to work on various projects with different roles to play in each.
Culture and perks- Most tech companies are fully invested in their employees. This means random gift cards for lunch, a monthly stipend for personal development, free therapy sessions, work from home life...do I need to go on?
AND did I mention you have the chance to actually love what you do?? Technology is likely to power all the best inventions in the foreseeable future, in just about every area of life. So it’s time you get on board, find your tech career, and watch your life get a whole lot better.
